Auto Channel Creation Guide

What it is and why it helps

Instead of admins manually creating a voice channel every time for a game session or study group, a new channel is created automatically the moment a member joins a designated waiting channel. Once everyone leaves, the channel is deleted automatically, keeping the server's channel list tidy.

Instant mode creates a personal channel the moment you join the waiting channel, while selection mode lets you pick a game or category from buttons in a guide message before the channel is created. You can choose whichever mode fits your server.

Channel names can include variables such as the participant name or a sequence number so each generated channel gets a distinct name automatically.

How to get started

Set up the waiting channel and creation mode on the settings page and it works right away.

  1. Add a new configuration in the auto channel settings menu and choose the voice channel to use as the waiting channel.
  2. For instant mode, just set the destination category and a name template.
  3. For selection mode, also configure the text channel where the guide message appears and the buttons (game/category options).

Tips and common questions

The channel is deleted immediately once the last participant leaves. If a Discord request temporarily fails, a cleanup job retries every 5 minutes to remove any remaining channels.

Deleting a configuration also removes its linked guide message, so a confirmation step is shown before deletion.
