New Member Management Guide

What it is and why it helps

When a new member joins your server, Onyu automatically sends a welcome message and, if enabled, assigns a mission to complete within a set period (for example, spending a target amount of time in voice channels). It helps new members settle into the server naturally.

During the onboarding period, a dedicated role can be granted automatically and removed once the period ends — useful for distinguishing new members or restricting access to newcomer-only channels.

The time existing members spend together with new members is also tracked, so you can see a ranking of who is actively welcoming newcomers.

How to get started

You can turn on only the features you want from the newcomer management menu on the settings page.

  1. Toggle the welcome message, mission, and role features independently.
  2. The welcome message supports variables such as the member nickname or server member count that fill in automatically.
  3. To use missions, set a target activity duration and time window. Progress per member can be tracked from the newcomer management screen on the dashboard.

Tips and common questions

Mission completion and automatic removal of the onboarding role follow different rules (mission achievement vs. elapsed days) — the role is removed once the configured period ends even if the mission was not completed.

No role is automatically assigned to replace the onboarding role once it ends, so manage any follow-up role separately if needed.
